hands of light

I have posted this image by Jos.A.Smith because my first experiment in crystal healing was just like this. I felt surrounded by shining beings. I know that everyone perceives things differently and since so many people don't see things the same way as I do, I bow to the idea that my mind tries to explain feelings by creating images. I say 'I bow' but in my heart of hearts I think I see what is truly there. when my daughter was a baby, I swear I could hear the rustle of the angel wings by my daughter's cot. But I guess that was just the breeze through the leaves of the trees. But what was she so intently looking at on the ceiling?

I have just read an extension on this quote that says that our greatest gift is to live in the present .. that's why it's called 'the present'

healing

compassion is one of those words made famous by the dalai lama. we know compassion when we recognise that everyone is from the same source. the source has been called prana or chi or god. compassion is the key to unconditional love. it requires a mind cleared of judgement and an open heart. an open loving heart is receiving universal love. this is a clear love that asks for nothing in return. this is a healing energy and when we are clear enough and open this energy fills us to overflowing. it cleanses every cell in our bodies and literally spills out of us. you don't need someone laying on a table in front of you to heal, you can give this loving, healing energy with a smile or a look, through a touch on the shoulder or through your gentle presence in a room.

mudita

I did a 3 hours anusara yoga session this weekend and the theme was mudita...this is the cultivation of feelings of joy for the success of another. (rather than feeling dark and bitter that we didn't have the success) we did several meditations throughout the afternoon on mudita. the first just focussing on someone fairly random and finding the feelings of gladness for their success. then, later we tried it out on someone from our family...for example a sibling...this got a bit trickier. finally we did it for an adversary. for me the worst part of this exercise was that I had so much trouble picking one!

doing with devotion

when we approach our lives with devotion to what we are doing and as the ultimate offering to ourselves we create wonders, make other people feel good and create wonders too. when we are tired and about to fall into the space of a victim working hard and for nothing and hating the people around us and resenting everything we literally feel drained, exhausted. all that negativity is totally depleting. the irony is that giving our all is not depleting, it is exciting, wonderful, enriching. it's the only way to live!!! do it!!

peeling the onion

during a series of guided meditation workshops that i did a few years ago i discovered that we reside on various fluctuating planes. when we are gloomy we may find that there are funny brown critters attaching to our aura. feeding on us and literally draining our energy from us. we are filled with hateful thoughts, we're resentful and grumpy and everything is just too hard. when our energy is lighter those kind of critters just don't stick, they can't stand to be around the light directly. i thought that this was because the energy was filling us up, but i am beginning to think that it is our natural energy shining out more fully. as we tackle our demons, our 'stuff', our fears we peel off the skins that we put in place to protect us when we were kids. as we do the light that is us and always was us is revealed. honour those skins, they were created by you when you were only a little one. created to protect you from a world that appeared unfriendly and frightening. as you peel them off, get to know the wonderful person who created them. open your heart to them and be their teacher. show them how you can create a new life without the skins. let those wonderful children inside you come out and play!
